The small figures have clearly painted facial features. The body is made of white, very fine, high density clay. The circular foot rim is a very broad jade bi-like foot, a form that existed primarily during the early Kangxi period. The blue underglaze has a grayish tint and the aubergine enamel is iridescent, with a mother of pearl-like reflection. All these features are typical for early Kangxi period. PROVENANCE: Dr. Robert I. Lin, brought to California from Taiwan in 1960s.
