PROVENANCE: Dr. Robert I. Lin, brought to California from Taiwan in 1960s.
明萬曆五彩仙人幻境圖罐。形規整,口沿外撇,腹稍長,是典型萬曆罐。胎帶灰黃色,是晚明胎之一種。內壁中部有上下兩半粘接的凸出弦紋一週,足端平切,內足牆稍外科,外底有一大片橙紅色的火石紅,這些都是萬曆晚年常見的特徵。上口沿施紫金釉一週,這是晚明清初常見的紋飾,上肩及近底處各飾一週黃紅色覆蓮瓣紋邊飾,下肩飾大鋸齒狀邊飾一週。腹以綠、紅,茄紫、黃彩及藍黑色釉下彩等繪出仙人在幻境中。明晚期道教流行,同時中國與東南亞,西亜及非洲貿易迅速展開,引起對遠方傳奇的興趣,所以奇幻的景色也畫在瓷上,但少見。肩書"大明萬曆年製"款。(加州林亦森博士珍藏 ,1960年代由台北帶來美國)
