丁观鹏,生卒年不详,顺天府(今北京市及周边)人。是雍正、乾隆朝画院高手,与唐岱、郎世宁、张宗苍、金廷标齐名。造诣深湛,得乾隆帝赏识,乾隆朝擢“一等画画人”。雍正四年(1726年)进入宫廷,与弟丁观鹤供奉于南薰殿。早年向郎世宁、王致诚学习,融贯中西,重视立体感;工道释、人物、山水,亦能作肖像,尤擅仙佛、神像,以宋人为法,不尚奇诡,画风工整细致,受到欧洲绘画的影响, 学明代的丁云鹏笔法,有出蓝之誉。
