An outstanding curated selection of antique and collectible items are on offer in the September 8th Auction including Asian fine art, rare antique ceramics, cloisonné vessels, wood, stone and metal sculpture and rare decorative arts for the passionate collector. Curated and carefully pulled together, this auction offers a splendid array of rare and intriguing items.

Highlights of the sale include a dramatic under glazed red covered Dragon Jar with a six-character Ming Dynasty mark. This Meiping jar is decorated bands of floral scrolls framing a pair of five clawed dragons. Presence and artistic detail distinguish this fine ceramic item, certain to find its way into a distinguished collection.

Among the many figural works on offer, a particularly sought-after item is the intricately decorated and hand molded large sculpture made in the Ming Style.This underglazed red seated Bodhisattva astonishes with details: particularly the lovely headdress and robes and artistic attention to the hands and face.

In addition to a dazzling Blue White and Under glazed Red Dragon Stem Bowl with Ming Jianwen Mark, the auction will also showcase unusual antique Tibetan pieces such as the Antique Turquoise and Coral Ceremonial Headdress with striking pattern and details, for the Tibetan antique collector.

As well, on offer is an important Qianlong Cloisonné Censer, an example of the complex and fascinating iconography of Chinese art including Gui Long heads, Buddhist flower branches, elephant hooves, and the head of an auspicious lion.

This elaborate piece bares the square mark of Qianlong Nien Zhi and is surmounted by a large gilt Buddhist lion finial. A silk strip adhered to the interior of the vessel has an inscription stating that the censer was set for use in the Qian Chin Hall of the Forbidden City during the 38th year of Qianlong reign, the place where the Emperor would meet his subordinates. This is an exceptional sculptural and ornate piece for the discriminating collector.
