This globular vessel is decorated with four roundels featuring writhing iron-red, green, and blue dragons amidst crashing waves, surrounded by scrolling lotus. Along the foot, there is a band of crashing waves and two pairs of iron-red and green phoenixes amongst floral scrolls along the shoulder. The neck is decorated with similar scrolling lotus. The slightly domed cover is decorated with an iron-red dragon and a yellow phoenix amongst scrolling lotus. The jar is surmounted with bud-form finial. The base is inscribed with a six-character Jiajing reign mark within a double-circle.
