Important Bronze Buddha with Yongle Mark


The statue depicting the Buddha sitting serenely with eyes half closed and with welcoming hand gesture. The face is round with small mouth, long years and raised nose that are typical for Buddha stone and wood states of the Buddha during the Dynasty of Tang, Song, Yuan, and typical for the bronze Buddha statues of early Ming Dynasty, including Yongle period. His face seems to contain a gentle smile, a lovely face.

Provenance: From an important California collector, whose grandfather a major antique dealer during late Qing Dynasty and early Republic, and was a patron of painters Wu Changshuo and Huang Binhong
